Effects of Management and Hillside Position on Soil Organic Carbon Stratification in Mediterranean Centenary Olive Grove

چکیده
The short- and medium—long-term effects of management hillside position on soil organic carbon (SOC) changes were studied in a centenary Mediterranean rainfed olive grove. One way to measure these is analyze the quality, as it assesses degradation degree attempts identify practices for sustainable use. In this context, SOC stratification index (SR-COS) one best indicators quality assess from content without analyzing other properties. SR-SOC was calculated profiles (horizon-by-horizon) following time periods combinations tested: (i) medium‒long-term (17 years) conventional tillage (CT) no-tillage (NT), (ii) short-term (2 CT with cover crops (NT-CC), (iii) effect (from NT-CC) different topographic positions along hillside. results indicate that increased depth all practices. ranged 1.21 1.73 CT0, 1.48 3.01 CT1, 1.15 2.48 CT2, 1.22 2.39 NT-CC 0.98 4.16 NT; therefore, not directly linked increase or loss profile. This demonstrates time-variability NT improves long-term.

Urban Tree Effects on Soil Organic Carbon
Urban trees sequester carbon into biomass and provide many ecosystem service benefits aboveground leading to worldwide tree planting schemes. Since soils hold ∼75% of ecosystem organic carbon, understanding the effect of urban trees on soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil properties that underpin belowground ecosystem services is vital. We use an observational study to investigate effects of thre...
متن کاملThe Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock
Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...
متن کاملon translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach
abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Carbon mineralizability determines interactive effects on mineralization of pyrogenic organic matter and soil organic carbon.
Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a critical and active pool in the global C cycle, and the addition of pyrogenic organic matter (PyOM) has been shown to change SOC cycling, increasing or decreasing mineralization rates (often referred to as priming). We adjusted the amount of easily mineralizable C in the soil, through 1-day and 6-month preincubations, and in PyOM made from maple wood at 350 °C, th...
